The Downshift Band is a multi-cultural group, that combines musical influences ranging from gospel, funk, swing, rhythm and blues, soul and rock and roll. Formed four years ago, the band has been able to consistently entertain and delight it's growing shoreline audience with dynamic arrangements, superb musicianship, energetic performances and inspired song selection.

 

The band is fronted by Tom Knapp, with soulful vocals, a serious blues harp, and a ripping saxophone. On rhythm, slide and lead guitar is Steve Plaziak. Eddie Dubose on bass guitar, and cousin Russell Tolson on drums, are the potent rhythm section that is the driving force behind the music. Dan Rausch rounds out the sound, adding a keyboard groove to the already funk-laden blues that the band lays down.

The Downshift Band performs a mix of music that keeps everyone moving and shaking all night long! From up-tempo jump blues to slow, sexy ballads to jazz inspired instrumentals...this ensemble has the right material and the know how to keep the party jumping
